PostDoc position in Immunology

The initial appointment will be for 3 years starting September 1, 2019. Continued employment following the fixed term is possible.

The laboratory focuses on the role of the complement system in acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the lung, the skin and the gastrointestinal tract. This position is embedded in the DFG-funded Excellence Cluster 2167 " Precision Medicine in Chronic inflammation". The project is designed to define the network of intracellular and extracellular complement activation at the level of individual immune cell populations and tissues in clinical and experimental autoimmune skin blistering disease (Ludwig et al. Trends Mol Med 2013).The laboratory uses a wide variety of molecular, cellular, immunological and transgenic techniques (Karsten et al. J. Immunol. 2015, 2017; Quell et al. J. Immunol. 2017) in a highly motivating environment.

Your profile:

We are looking for highly motivated and qualified candidates with strong interest and background in immunology. Requirements include a PhD  with excellent grades in biology, biochemistry or related sciences. Prior experience with mouse models of inflammation is desired including the qualification for animal handling (FELASA). Preference will be given to candidates experienced in isolation and purification of immune cells and their phenotypic characterization by flow cytometry. The ideal candidate has excellent organization, communication, analytical and team player skills, as well as self-motivation. Due to the strong international ties of the laboratory (, solid command of the English language is essential.  

The position will be paid according to the regulations of the civil service collective wage agreement (TV-L13, 100%). Applications of women are strongly encouraged.
