2nd International Symposium “Allergy Meets Infection”, 26.-28.09.2018, Lübeck, Germany
We are delighted to announce the 2nd International Symposium “Allergy Meets Infection”, which will take place from September 26 - 28, 2018 in Lübeck, Germany. The symposium is organized and hosted by the DFG-funded International Research Training Group (IRTG) 1911 dealing with immunoregulation of inflammation in allergy and infection.
The activation and interplay between innate and adaptive immune responses is the basis for the initiation, perpetuation and resolution of disease-related inflammation. While inflammatory responses are important to fight and eliminate pathogens, they can be detrimental in allergic conditions. The individual genetic background, microbiome composition and diversity as well as environmental factors contribute to the innate and adaptive immune responses in allergy and infection. It is the scientific goal of the IRTG 1911 to gain a detailed understanding of the complex immune pathways that drive, control and resolve allergic reactions and infections with intracellular pathogens. Such knowledge holds the promise to identify targets for better prophylactic and/or therapeutic treatments.
The 2nd International Symposium “Allergy Meets Infection” will offer an excellent platform for a scientific dialogue between the two fields of allergy and infection in a historical and relaxing environment.
Confirmed speakers:
Cecilia Garlanda, Milan, Italy
Sven Hammerschmidt, Greifswald, Germany
Randall S. Johnson, Cambridge, UK
Claudia Kemper, NIH, Bethesda, USA
